Three steps from signing up to your first conversation.
Create your profile
Sign up with your real name and email, confirm your email with a code, and add up to six photos and a short bio.
See who's nearby
Mechi shows people within 15 km who match who you want to meet. Like or pass on each one. Nobody is told when you pass.
Match and chat
When two people like each other, it's a match. Only matches can message each other, so you only hear from people you chose.
Safety is built in
Dating should feel exciting, not risky. These protections are on for everyone, free.
Your exact location stays private
Other people see a rounded distance, such as "3 km away", never where you are.
Photo location data is removed
Phone photos can contain the GPS location where they were taken. Mechi strips it out of every photo you upload.
Every email is verified
Accounts must confirm a real email address. Temporary and throwaway addresses are refused.
Adults only
Everyone gives their date of birth at sign-up, and anyone under 18 is turned away.
Block and report in two taps
From any chat, block someone or report them for review. Reporting also blocks them right away.
Your surname is never shown
Other people see your first name and age. Your surname and email stay private.

Who can use Mechi?
Adults aged 18 and over. You need a real email address and your real first name and surname. Only your first name is shown to others.
Is Mechi free?
Yes. Signing up, matching and chatting are free. Premium is an optional Ksh 399 upgrade for 30 days that gives unlimited likes and a wider search distance.
Will I be charged every month?
No. Premium is a one-time M-Pesa payment that lasts 30 days. Nothing renews automatically.
Who can see my location?
Nobody sees your exact location. Other people only see how far away you are, rounded to the nearest kilometre.
How do I delete my account?
In the app, go to Profile, then Settings, then Delete my account. You can also request deletion by email.
How do I install Mechi?
Mechi is downloaded directly from mechyapp.com, not from an app store. Follow the installation guide; it takes about two minutes.
Is Mechi available on iPhone?
Not yet. Mechi is available for Android phones first.
